Face them.
Name them.
Own them.

We all experience difficult emotions: anxiety, shame, anger, fear. They come and go, and sometimes they stay with us for years. Through my work, I’m facing, naming, and owning these feelings by turning them into bold, playful characters: Inner Demons.

By giving them faces and forms, I’m taking away their power. They are no longer vague, scary or overwhelming. They have become something we can face, understand and even enjoy.

Lets own our demons, don’t let them own us.

Melancholy Posse (totem)

154 x 54 cm, spray paint on ply wood.

This gang of undesirables wants you wrapped up in your bedding like a caterpillar in a cocoon. No socialising, no gym, no point. They want you solo and sad. Don’t listen.

Bad Choice Brothers (totem)

154 x 54 cm, spray paint on ply wood.

Sneaky and persuasive, these demons thrive in the heat of impulsive decisions. They’re the whisper in your ear saying “What’s the worst that could happen?” One bad idea quickly turns into another as they lead you down a path or regret laden land mines. Don’t listen.

Insecurity Cartel (totem)

154 x 54 cm, spray paint on ply wood.

A ruthless crew that shakes your confidence by comparing you to everyone else. They whisper doubts and remind you of every flaw until you forget your strengths. Don’t listen.
